BURTON-TAYLOR COLLEGE & ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
An educational program of the Keenan E. Burton Children, Youth and Families Project
in collaboration with 1+1=U, Inc.

The Burton-Taylor College & Academic Scholarship will offer its inaugural scholarship award in Louisville, Kentucky in 2010.  These awards will recognize deserving high school students with monetary support towards their pursuit of post-secondary education.  Scholarships may be used to offset any educational expense. 
 
In its first inaugural year installation, only students actively participating in the youth empowerment organization, 1+1=U, Inc. will be eligible for the award.  Beginning 2011, students from any high school may qualify.  Students planning to attend the University of Kentucky or St. Louis University are encouraged to apply.
 
Honoring Edward Burton and Gladys Taylor, the parents of Keenan E. Burton, NFL St. Louis Rams WR (2008) and former University of Kentucky WR (2003-2006), the Burton-Taylor College & Academic Scholarship aims to empower youth in their educational attainment and who have overcome socio-economic and family obstacles towards success and academic achievement against all odds.
 
Eligibility:             
• Must be actively involved in 1+1=U, Inc. program and have a G.P.A of 2.5 or higher.
• Must have confirmed graduation from high school by June, 2010.
 
Applications:          
• Must submit complete application with requested documents.
• Must present a qualifying letter of admissions for acceptance into a college, university, vocational/technical school, preparatory, military academy or career development training institution of higher learning.
 
Announcements of Awards:   June, 2010
 
Deadline for Application:  May 19, 2010
                                            
Awards will be determined by availability of funding.
